Okay. I’m not usually in to discussing politics, but this story, or executive move made me wonder why?
I am deeply interested in fitness and such however.
Mister Trump removed the rule that Lady Obama worked to get in to place.
That rule basically said that schools much serve a balanced lunch consisting of fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy products, and such to fight children’s obesity.
This rule was showing good results, and for lots of poorer kids, this would be the only balanced meal they’d get all day, if anything at all.
I knew some kids in this predicament, whose parents were on drugs or what have you. These kids would go to school so they could eat.
The better schools serve a balanced meal as a rule, so even if parents were lacking, these kids eat better.
This program cost our government nothing, has good results, and was aiding our young Americans.
If we are making America great, wouldn’t serving our adults of tomorrow good and quality lunches be a good thing?
You, who are smarter and better versed in politics, please explain this to me?
To me it was just petty, but maybe I’m not seeing the real picture?
Tell me why a president, a leader would stoop so low as to reverse such a rule?
Why people?
One of his guiding motives is to devalue anything the Obamas did. He never felt the Obamas were legitimate, and he seems bent on delegitamizing anything they touched. It is petty, and has nothing to do with good policy. He does it because he can.
The irony there is that for the longest time, I thought Trump running was an honest to goodness joke, a bad one, but a joke. He's done nothing if not make an impact in the first five months of his .......... reign?
I'll add. We are talking health, or good health of upcoming Americans.
The GOP's health bill wants sicker people to pay higher premiums for insurance then people that "live the good life and do things to keep themselves healthy."
Now, because a child can't help what he or she eats at school lunch time, wouldn't it have been a better idea to leave this policy in place?
This policy cost nothing, and would help with health care cost over time.
We'd be helping upcoming American adults not only learn what a quality lunch was, but get them use to eating quality foods.
That in turn would help them stay healthier, or "do what they should to live the good live."
Back assed to me.
It seems his desire to disqualify what Obama administration put in to place overrides sense, or sound policy.
Jealousy, or hate, or whatever gets in the way of his judgement.
Did America really want a leader like that?
Apparently enough of them did to get him elected. In my view, one of the gravest mistakes a democracy has ever made.
I’d like to add.
I’m not blaming the GOP’s healthcare stance on Trump. I understand the president doesn’t make all the decisions, but and must abide with his party and administration.
However, on this, knowing what his party’s stance is, seems reason would lead him to leave this law in place.
That was his decision alone.
I think you hit the nail on the head; If the Bushes had instituted this, Trump would be all over it.
I don't know if he hates Obama, or if he has simply placed his bets with those who hate Obama.
Most Trump supporters mainly talk about how they could never vote for another Clinton.
Personally, I didn't vote for either one.
But for Trump, I think this is all about placing his bets. I haven't yet figured out if he wants an 8 year run, or just wants to do it 4 years and go down popular with his friends.
The White House is actually quite a downgrade from his former life in many ways.
I doubt he even really thought through what we're talking about here. For Trump, I doubt it was privatization over regulation, or any other similar ideology. For Trump, it was just about the winning hand.
Yes, a downgrade. Look how much he spends on travel.
It is just something he's use to doing, but he forgets how many people it requires to make it possible now.
He talks about saving money, and this lunch deal could save lots of healthcare dollars, but then turns around and goes golfing every weekend at a cost of hundereds of thousands to play 18 holes.
I wonder, have any of you talked to lunch workers about this, or are you just, as most Trump haters, regurgitating the standard mainstream media blather from the local news from NBC? I'm all for healthy foods in school, but the people I know who work in the school lunch program have complained on sevferal occasions mthat kids throw away more of this food than they eat. It doesn't make economical sense to serve them what they won't eat! Bring back the French bread pizzas, burgers, and chicken patties, and get rid of the tofu, hummis, and carrot sticks! We did just fine growing up in the school lunch program. It shouldn't have been changed in the first place.
Where I live, my schools served a balanced meal. When I learned, what kids are offered for lunch now, I was surprised at all the crap.
Now, sure, it might be true that kids throw away lots of food, but it is no more expensive to throw away healthier food then it is to toss the crap.
If we stop serving tons of crap and serve less food, we also get less waste. School is where we learn that food is important, right?Lets teach to eat what you are served, and serve less, so we don’t have lots going to the trash.
In fact, it is cheaper to buy, prepare, and serve healthier foods over processed.
You don’t have to cook fruit, a carton of milk, no a peanut butter sandwich.
You say you did just fine on the old plan. If that is so, why are so many kids suffering from lack of nutrition, and obesity?
If you send your child to say a private school, or one that is in a better school district, why do this schools serve balanced lunches? What reason do you think?
So, no, I’m not a Trump hater, I’m a champion for our American youth to eat and learn better eating habits.
We also need to bring back gym classes or PE.
Why shouldn’t our American kids get a quality lunch cross the board? Remember, for many, this meal is the only meal they get a day.
America is fat. we need healthy foods for our kids so we don't have another generation of fatties.
Did you know that automakers like Toyota and such for cars that are built here, or slated to come here widen the seats by one inch?
Why is that?
I’ll admit that because kids learn what is a balanced meal and eat it while kids all won’t necessarily grow up to continue the habit, but many will.
It's not about hating anyone. It's about the things Trump is doing to harm the poor. I was convinced that he cared about us. I was convinced that he was the "Nice Christian," and am proven wrong.
As a Christian, I'm offended at how Trump treats other faiths. Did you know, he wanted to kick all Muslems out of the United States? I don't agree with the Muslem beliefs, but, don't kick them out!
I don't agree that someone of a certain faith has more rights, than the others. That's why we left England, if you remember your history. Religious Freedom, doesn't mean just for Christians.
Also, he's trying to take from the disabled and elderly. Our Meals On Wheels programs are being threatened. My doctor wants me on a "Balanced diet, meaning with vegies, and all that. How can I do that, when the government doesn't pay for stuff like Weight Watchers? I'm too busy, paying almost all of my check for rent. If it weren't for my ten extra meals, I'd have to beg on the streets.
Does any GOP wanna see the blind with tin cups and signs, like in Jesus's times? Not me, sisters. Begging's too much efforts, for no guarantees.
Blessings,
Sarah
I don't have to ask school servers and whatnot whether or not they agree with things. It sucks that healthy food is being thrown away, but it is better to serve generally healthier alternatives to children, hoping that more of them than not will eat it, than to serve them junk with the knowledge that it will be worse for them.
So it's not so much about hating Trump, although I kinda do. It's about nonsensical reversals and changes that haven't been thought through. If the Obamas said the sky was blue, Trump would try and counter it somehow, at this point.
I think much of what Trump is doing is directly aimed at Obama. Trump is the guy who popularized the notion that Obama was not American. Trump was insulted by Obama's rightful disdain for him, and wants to undo anything that might credit Obama.
I also believe that Trump is a Fascist. Many of his current moves are designed to remove any checks on his power. He is very dangerous.
Finally, do not believe that his standard of living dropped as President. Many of his moves seem to be designed to directly enhance his wealth. He is flagrantly using the office to enrich himself.
It is not about sour grapes, or hating Trump. I judge him by his actions. He needs to be removed from office.
I am surprised that he's allowed to use his office to enrich himself.
It is supposed to be against the rules.
But to say lets just feed our youth crap because, well, they throw it away, so their health isn't important is beyond me.
It's not what you know, but who you know. Seriously, he gets away with it, for the brass he's kissing, by changing laws. You want a fictionalized example of how it works, read Grisham's The Appeal.
The rich stick their noses up someone's backside, and the poor will remain so. I feel we are screwed.
Blessings because we need them,
Sarah
Pasco, I'm pretty sure Trump will be happy if / when he gets impeached. Why? Because his impeachment will get better TV ratings than anyone else's impeachment has.
LOL, you have a point.
Indeed, Leo. Egomaniacal is too mild a word for him.
The whole thing is just still so surreal. I can't shake the feeling this is somehow some staged practical joke of dark comedy. I usually don't even care about US politics, and I swear every single thing I hear about Trump is negative. I'm probably exadurating, but has there ever been a president with such a controversial amount of sheep poobutttery? Probably Trump's nothing special, but he's sure getting a lot of air play. He seems like a charicature of a corrupt politition. But apparently he's real, larger than life and leading one of the world superpowers. Congrats democracy. When they teach about him in history, I wonder what they'll say.
Well, one thing is we are now in a social media world.
He makes himself get noticed by posting things on Twitter he probably shouldn't.
When using social media, I believe messages should be about America, what good things he's planning for the future, or general things about him and the first lady.
"Hosted a dinner for diplomats."
Lets keep America strong."
You get the idea.
Not things about how the out going FBI head should keep his mouth shut, or false statements about previous leaders.
Political gossip..
Just one man's opinion.
Laughing.
This makes me sick for the reason that no one wants to even consider all the dirty tricks the democrats are pulling. The liberals are doing everything in their power to get Trump out of office. Everything I've read so far with the exception of one post is Trump this, Trump that, he's rich, blah blah blah. Never stopping to consider that he uses his own money for golfing etc. Everything the democrats can think of they'll pull because their lord and savior isn't in office. Hey, how about Freddy Mack and Fanny may Obama stole money from for what was it, the joke Obama care was. This whole Russia thing makes me want to puke, there is 0, 0, 0, 0 evidence there was collusion between Trump and Russia, the Russians had nothing to do with our election. Just take a gander at the Clintons and their connections to Russia and China for that matter. Do you hear about that? Nope, sure don't. It doesn't surprise me, yet it does at the same time that 99% of you people are democrats. The healthy lunch program was a giant failure kids throw away the shit plus most of it wasn't even appetizing in the first place. Grow a pair people and get behind the president and quit bitchin your fony president isn't in office. For one I'm glad he's hammering down on immigration and these Muslims are being dealt with. You want to know what liberalism does to a country? look no further than France and Germany and now, England. The democrats would say, oh you can't criticize the group that we all know is doing these horrible attacks on Cristians and westerners because if you do and call it out for what it is, you're a xenophobe. Roll over Beethoven! Not all Muslims are bad, but the whole religion now is run by radicals that will run you over with 18 wheelers and hack you to death. Democrats want them all brought into the US and given free things and then when people get shot or killed you have to be compassionate and understanding and roll over to them. Take the Bible out of schools and bring in the Koran. Turn off the fucken tv and NPR and read a nonbiased website like Drudge for a change, good god.
Have a look at these references and don't bitch about the source either. I don't want to hear it, I already know most of you will have a stroke when you see the URL:
School Lunch Czar Michelle Obama Claims Trump Wants Kids to ‘Eat Crap’
Exclusive: Obama Illegally Robbed Fannie, Freddie to Fund Obamacare
NSA Documents Prove Surveillance of Donald Trump & His Family
From here you can do your own homework.
Impersonally here to speak about health, not politics.
I’m concerned about what goes in to our youth’s mouths at lunch, and if that food cost nothing more, and helps kids eat better, why not?
Foods that are quality, or better for you can be made just as tasty as the other, so why not serve it?
Kids are throwing away food no matter what it is, why not teach conservation, and feed them better?
Are we justifying this just because, well, it’s just kids lunch, so it doesn’t matter?
The program was successful, and programs such as this take time to show results, but according to the health and heart association, this was showing well.
If you are talking budgets, seems to me healthier Americans will cost less health cost wise. You’ll have fewer kids, and I’m speaking kids, with things like high blood pressure, things that are related to obesity going to the doctor.
We are paying for these medical problems that might be helped by kids learning to eat better.
Where do they learn? At school.
No one has yet said that the democrats are doing a perfect job. I'm not in favour of the "anything to get him out of office" mentality, not when it involves out-and-out lying. At that point, that makes you no better than the man you're trying to oust.
But this shit about Muslims, Just Chillin, has to stop. We have at the very, very least one Muslim here on the site, and I'm certain there are more. To say that the religion is being run by radicals and whatever else you said? Um, that constitutes hate speech, in my opinion. Ignorant, incorrect, bigoted hate speech. Think what you want about those of us who see Trump for what he is. But seriously shut the hell up about a religion itself. The radicals make up less than 1% of the religion in question, and many, many Muslims are outraged by things like Isis. I'd say the vast majority, in fact, are horrified by the actions of a few, the same way most Christians I know would be utterly shocked and sickened by some of the terrible things done in the name of that religion, both currently and in the past.
This is so objectionable, in fact, that I want to follow through on this. Congratulations. I gave enough of a damn to get off my ass and do more than just talk.
I knew that would trigger someone! Radicals may be the minority but they sure are doing a good job at running the show, and no one seems to want to do anything about it. It's a very real issue and we already have a hard enough time vetting those coming into our country as it is, who knows how many sleeper cells we have in the U.S. Not all Muslims are bad for sure, but we don't know which ones are and which aren't.
Vet the Muslims? how about we vet the Christians too then. They too are doing some radical violent things. There are quite a few Muslims on here and your speech is offensive in the extreme. You are clearly the very radical you are so afraid of. The person who would condemn others for what they themselves believe. Your attitude is a disgrace to the U.S. I am ashamed of you as a fellow citizen.
Christians are committing terrorism huh. I'm waiting on your sources. How about vet everyone, does that make you happy? If the Manchester attack, the neice France attack, the sanburnadino attack, the orlando attack, the philly cop shooting, the London truck atack near parlament, and countless other attacks weren't radical Islamic terror, please, tell me what they were? Those who are law abiding Muslims on here should definitely stand up and call this garbage out for what it is and stand against it, that makes perfect sense to me. Frankly your argument just goes in circles. Moreover, I'd like to know what your solution is to these issues that keep on proliferating. Why do democrats/fascists want Trump dead? Impeached? Is it because he actually is trying to undo all of Obama's garbage that has gotten us 10 trill deeper in debt and a stimulus package that had done nothing? Trump hasn't even been in office nearly 6 months and Nancy Pelosi doesn't even know who the president is and Maxine waters can't keep current events straight. Again, how bout them ties to China and Russia Hillary and Bill have that we can't seem to talk about? Clearly if you can't/aren't willing to have the discussion then sounds to me like you're toeing the Clinton line down river. Now of course you think i hate all Muslims which is not what I said. i said quite clearly, in the language of English that not all Muslims are bad/terrorists, but unfortunately whether you want to have the discussion or not, doesn't change the facts, and the facts are that radical Islamists are spreading and no liberalized country refuses to face the issue. In fact they say, welp, guess you'll just have to get used to it. Oh let's not even get into how poorly women are treated, rape, etc. But I understand that just triggers a lot of you. Keep on watching the same old shit on tv and pushing your conspiracy theories. My how times have changed... And we're crying over Michael's lunch laws. And yes I said Michael not Michelle. Look at them biceps!
Funny how you can make those claims about Christians all while saying that I'm wrong, and then turning around and doing exactly what you are telling me what not to do!
Few points here:
1. To keep to the lunch-law argument, can you cite statistics that show that the food given to children was going to waste? Better yet, can you cite statistics that prove that reversing the law actually improves the health of children overall? If you can't, then you've already lost, but let's keep going, shall we?
2. Any time someone shoots up a gay night club in the name of one god or another, that's terrorism. Can we think of a point in the recent past where that kinda might have maybe happened? If we can, then can we go a step further and extrapolate how many single murders, beatings and rapes have probably happened in the name of God, just over the last ten years? And let's not forget the single largest act of terrorism in the history of the world, arguably (the Holocaust would be up there too): The Crusades. Again, Christians. Now, this obviously doesn't mean that I should judge all or even most Christians for what a few really awful ones have done, but it does mean that some pretty fucking bloody attrocities can be laid quite squarely at the feet of members of the religion, or groups within that religion. Let's not forget the KKK, which ties crime and racism all up in a neat little package to persecute anyone who essentially isn't white, male and Christian. In other words, shut your mouth about the supposed status of religion. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, and all you're doing is coming across as a bigoted, ignorant fool. I have a great deal of sympathy for those who want to protect innocents from being harmed unduly; Isis, and other terrorist organizations, are awful outfits bent on human misery, and I have absolutely no sympathy for nor understanding toward them. But that "protection" does not mean Islamophobia. It does not mean barring Muslims from entering the country just because a statistically small number might possibly be affiliated with terrorist activities. It means standing up for what's right, and what's right in this case is equal rights for all, and innocence until proof of guilt is furnished.
3. Again, no one is saying Clinton's hands are clean. They aren't. I feel like your last election really was a case of two fairly bad options, each for their own reason. I'm not just swallowing the party line on any of this. All I know is what I see, and what I see is an immature man attempting to lead your country and making an altogether spectacular mess of it. I hope he is stopped before he really and truly does something that can't be explained or rationalized away by folks like you who seem bent on the right no matter what logic is presented to you.
4. Obama made a mess, did he? Well sure he did. The man wasn't perfect. But do you know what else he did? He helped make it so your ridiculous health care system made at least a lick of sense. No, it wasn't perfect, and it had its drawbacks, but Trump gutting it the way he's been doing isn't really doing anything except ensuring that the poor have even less access to necessary medical care. Oh, and let's not forget birth control, which he either slashed or means to (I can't remember which, just at the moment). Facts are facts. You had an imperfect system, and rather than trying to improve it, Trump is bent on undoing it largely because it was Obama who did it. If Obama said the sky was blue, Trump would argue. If Obama said Trump was white, Trump would probably argue. This is a fellow who clearly has no idea of the big picture for your country.
So yeah. If you want to go around spreading hate speech about Muslims, you're going to get reported and hopefully dealt with. Spread your Trump-supporting bullshit all you want; most of us know better, and I pray that the few who don't are spared the worst ravages of their mistakes. But what I see here in this thread is either a troll who wants a fight, or a deluded man so desperate to support the right that he ignores all rational thought in that endeavour.
I'd advise you not write back until you can actually refute some of the things I've said, or can back up some of what you claim. I also advise you to remember that not a single Muslim here - or anywhere else, for that matter - owes you a fucking thing. They are innocent till proven guilty. They do not need to stand up and be counted before you in order to be good people who are disgusted by the acts of terrorism being perpetrated by extremists in the name of Allah. Their failure to do so does not in any way support your argument or undermine their own strength. Just remember that. Speak facts, not hyperbole, and perhaps people will treat with you more kindly in future. Do aught else, and you're inviting the very feedback you've received here.
Now, to address more directly the original issue:
I've done quite a bit of research on this now, and I better understand what's gone on here. I still don't agree with it, and I still think the Trump administration is beyond foolish, but there's at least more reason for this one than "Obama did it". Or, at the least, that's what they want you to think.
The loosening is in the areas of fats, whole grains and salt. The whole-grain version of southern grits has little bits of black in it, and kids don't like that so they won't eat it. The loosened rules will allow schools to serve 1% milk instead of no-fat milk if they want to, and the allowances regarding sodium will give them a few more options since they're getting their food from companies. I...really don't understand that one, but here we are.
Now, let's dispense with one of your so-called credible sources.
Note how it calls Michelle Obama a Czar? That's red flag #1.
But for any of you who didn't bother clicking on the link, basically it's a paper-thin excuse followed by dozens of pics and tweets via twitter about how terrible lunches are. This is misleading and inaccurate. It suggests that school lunches were excellent until Obama changed the rules, which they weren't. It further suggests that Obama's changing the rules made it so that schools were forced to serve disgusting food, and further presents Trump's rollback as something of a reprieve in this regard.
Let's be honest here, folks. If your school serves hot-dog buns with processed cheese and calls them Italian dunkers, they're probably still gonna do that. If your school serves pizza that's so raw that the dough will still stretch, this "fix" is not going to reverse that. This change simply allows schools to relax a few requirements.
Let's also remember that the requirement of serving fruits and vegetables is a good thing. Okay sure, there are students throwing away their fruits and veggies, of course there are. But there are also a lot of student who are eating them. The number who are benefiting is statistically far superior to the amount of wasted food.
So is the system perfect? God no, it's not perfect. It's trying to combat child obesity, which is a serious problem, and Trump's little tweak strikes me as largely superfluous and slightly counter to the grain of that notion. It's not monstrous, it's petty.
I am a Christian, and I'm disgusted, at how you condemned "All Muslems." I hear the same about "All Christians," and refuse to take that tactic. Weren't you taught that just because someone's not the same as you, you shouldn't hate them?
And, you have the same Terms Of Service, as the rest of us. I hope they report you, because, you crossed a terrible line, and you know it!
And, Trump is not only making it hard for children, but grown-up disabled folks. As a Christian, I'm fighting back, because of new laws I think are wrong.
I'm not with any "Party," because, we have some pretty good folks, on both sides.
And, calling Michelle Obama, Michael? Really? How immature can we get? This is supposed to be about food, not hate speak.
Sarah
Well my fellow idiot citizen: You want proof that terorism is terorism whether Christian or not? How about the guy in the news just this week. In Oregon. He was verbally abusing and threatening a black woman and a Muslim woman together on a bus. He was a white supremecist, and I will bet you money he identifies as Christian. Three other white men had heard enough and attempted to intervene, and this guy stabbed all three in the throat. Two died, one was just released from hospital. Now those three men are people I am proud to call fellow American. They defended two women of minority status from a person apparently a lot like you.
As far as your comment about the arms and gender of Michelle Obama, you just proved you are a real prick.
I wasn't even gonna get into the thing in Oregon. If we need proof that racism is systemic, there's your proof. I won't go out and say that this crime was committed on behalf of the man's Christian beliefs, as I don't know precisely which religion, if any, he claims. But I will say that innocents were killed because this man was shouting about Muslims on a bus, bullying a couple of women, and then decided he had the right to kill people who came to the defense of the women. I'm saddened by the disgusting disregard for human life demonstrated by those killings, and I'm right with Bill (though I'm not American). Those people stood up, and were killed for it.
So okay, yeah, I'm on board with making sure people don't get blown up or gunned down, or have their planes hijacked. Sure I am. But I also want numb shits like the guy from Oregon dealt with. I want this problem accepted as a credible and serious issue all over the United States. I want people to remember that while terrorism is a problem, it's not just a Muslim problem. It's also a white-man problem when a white man decides he has the right to kill or maim people who hold views counter to his own. Frankly, terrorism is a problem in a lot of ways, but it's silly and irresponsible to lay the lion's share at the door of a mosque.
Thanks for post 32. These southern grits are actually served at breakfast, not lunch.
Grits are just that grits, and might have pieces of ggrains in them.
The version matters not. It is a hot cereal, like oatmeal, or cream of wheat.
I suspect kids don't eat it not because of the grains, but they don't know what it is, or how to make it taste desirable to themselves.
You can add sugar, sault, butter, it just depends. That should be taught as well.
Grits alone are bland.
Also, you can't expect to change a person’s diet, kid or adult, and expect them to understand why unless you do some educating.
This program, like any change, will take some time for the people it was aimed at, kids, do adjust to different foods.
An example would be if you served white bread, then one day, that bread is brown, and has little pieces of something unidentified in it, how can you expect it to just be eaten without question?
You don’t know what it is, so you’re not going to eat it just because it was put in front of you.
At 16, I decided I was going to try to live as healthy of a life as possible, so I went from the way I was eating to that plan.
I took myself off to a natural foods market, and I’ll tell you, some of the stuff in that place was strange and weird looking.
My mother always served decent foods, but not completely natural, low fats, and such, so even though I’d decided this in my mind, I still had an adjustment period. A trial and error tasting time.
I had to read some books to learn what this new stuff I’d decided I was going to put past my lips was.
I had the advantage of being taken to the country to visit family, so had seen many things in the natural state, but what if I was a city kid who never seen wheat was brown, not white?
Green or yellow apples? Aren’t they all red?
You see what my point is here?
Not sure you can classify a white supremacist as Christian by default. You seem to think I hate everyone, which, just to point it out, I don't. We're also talking about radical islamic terror, not whacked out nut jobs who also may have been on antipsychodic drugs. Think about that one? People don't have to use religion as a basis of killing people. How about that guy here in Oregon who cut off his mother's head on Mother's day carrying it around into stores like a bag of groceries? Was he Christian? I'm also talking about by and large what is going on over in Europe. There will always be crime here in the states, and it should go without saying that many crimes aren't done by Muslims so I'm not putting Muslims into a basket there, I mean just look at Chicago. Gun laws are so strict there the rate of killings go up, but they're not Muslims, their largely gang bangers. How about the recent shooting in an elementary school in California where a guy's wife worked there, he walked in and shot her and himself. He wasn't Muslim he was just pissed off because he was recently divorced. Call me Islamifobic if you'd like even though it's not true, but it does concern me the democrats have blocked repeatedly Trump's travel bann. The point here is that we don't know who is affiliated with Isis and who are sleeper cells. Because of this you need to do very close vetting. Besides, come on folks, if someone commits a crime then some reporter or the person themselves says they are Christian, can you really call them a Christian in the first place? No, you can't. I don't hate all people, I hate the fact that we've got a real issue on our hands and the democrats will do nothing but roll over, bitch at republicans and many republicans are no better either.
On the lunch issue, kids will be kids, and new lunch laws don't substitute for shitty ass parents. In fact that's a poor reason to justifying lunch laws.
God I love triggering you guys! If you don't like what I have to say, you definitely don't want to hear my grandmother! Trump hasn't even gotten past a majority of what he wants to do because he's been blocked from every angle by Democrats, and SW's info may largely come from these liberal sources, we don't know because he hasn't posted any.
Oh what's with the big wall Obama built around his mansion? Thought he was against those racist things. Post one source that wasn't written by the washington compost or the new york times, please.
I'll get into the thing in Oregon, because Oregon is my home. I'm ashamed it came from here. But I think Pasco spelled it out pretty damn well, speaking as someone who is from here and proud of many things in our state. This stabby is not one of them. Quite the opposite.
I’d like to respond to this statement.
On the lunch issue, kids will be kids, and new lunch laws don't substitute for shitty ass parents. In fact, that's a poor reason to justifying lunch laws.
Good lunches, or laws that say kids must be served quality, and healthier foods do substitute for bad parents. Let me tell you why.
Many kids that have bad parents go to school to eat. They have no breakfast, nor lunch at home and school is the place to get something to eat for many.
I personally know some kids that did exactly as I described, went to school to eat, because mom and dad, if he was around, didn’t buy much food, or would eat out, but not bring the kids anything back to eat.
When they did by food, it was basically junk, or what I call filler stuff, and had to last.
5 days per week, they got breakfast, and lunch, and if they could sign up for an after-school program, or project, they got a snack before going home.
Two quality meals per day is enough to keep a kid going, so these meals, if quality, would help wouldn’t they not?
If you only got two meals per day, you try to eat as much of it as you can get to fill up. If that stuff is crap it does nothing for your basic nutritional needs.
On the weekends, you eat some more filler foods, play video games, and just get fat.
That is the reality for many.
JustChillin,
Sleeper cells, Isis, paranoia, blah blah blah. Statistically less than 1% of Muslims are terrorists, yet you support a travel ban on the other 99%?
Statistically, probably at least 1% of Christians, or Jews, or Hindus, or Buddhists, are also apt to commit some sort of crime, but I don't see you suggesting locking them out of the States. Hmm. Wonder why that is?
You're also in no position to criticize my lack of sources when yours simply ignore the truth in favour of whatever spin they favour. I do my utmost to make sure not to state a thing unless I've cross-referenced it several ways first. I've been wrong before, and I'll own it when I'm wrong again, but unless you have actual facts to disprove the things I'm saying, stop yowling.
You're a republicatn and you hate democrats because they're democrats. Okay. I get it. You're not willing to listen to facts. Trump is being blocked because he's doing things that are dangerous, unconstitutional and frankly make a lot of Americans I know, people I like and respect, utterly disgusted with him. This lunch-law thing wasn't on the same level, but it still wasn't a terribly bright move.
And yes, Wayne, I know what grits are. Kids saw the black flecks, thought it was something gross because they'd never seen them in their grits before, and didn't want to eat them. I understand your point about healthier foods looking or tasting or feeling weird though.
I think the major reason so many of us see much of this stuff as Trump trying to undo Obama:
I joke that I was raised on the Bible and the Wall Street Journal. Where the two meet, I'm afraid the Walll Street Journal wins. Of the two publications, the latter is the only one I ever read anymore. That being said: There are a great many Party Republicans, some family of mine. I remember my mother tearing up a Libertarian pamphlet I had and screaming at me. Lol I couldn't see to read it, but had had a couple friends read parts of it to me over a couple days. I was sixteen at the time.
Even then, what I noticed was people on both sides, people in both major playhers in the Deep State are pretty religious to their cause. Then you get things like Fox News -- a very successful outlet who marketed itself specifically to the right, as an alternative to what they called mainstream media, and you saw otherwise conservative conservatives go far more wacko on especially social issues.
Bush was the god's answer to the corruption of the Clintons, and now Trump is the god's answer to the Obamas.
I really wish the two parties would fracture, or that they wouldn't be able to control the conversation the way they do.
How this plays out on the lunch issue? The other side had the health food campaign, so it almost goes without saying the Right is going to oppose it. I dunno what I am anymore, not Libertarian for a few reasons that exceed this post. But this topic is exactly why so many are frustrated with the current political situation.
Leo, I think one thing you are trying to articulate is that many of us, whether basically republican or democrat have nuanced viewpoints. I can be liberal on social issues and still be conservative on economics. I can be for a militarily strong country, and still be against committing armed forces when the reasons are not sound. I can even vote for an individual who is not of my basic party. I agree, the extremes on both sides would have us all be cardboard cutouts of a liberal or conservative in lockstep. I really do hate it when someone on the right says liberals did this or that, or liberals believe this or that. It just isn't true. My beliefs, and probably yours are not easily collected into a one dimentional box.
Thanks, Pasco. That's it. You kind of describe where I find I'm coming down on a lot of things. Cool that.
I get the same thing. It's "You Christians this. Or: "You Christians hate..."
I don't know what Christians they mean, but not me. I try not to hate anyone. I dislike things, and acts. I don't agree with a lot of things. But, I sure just ain't got the heart of a hater.
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
Anyone who claims to be a Christian by the way and then goes out of their way to cause harm to others with no justified reason to put others down, by definition, is not a Christian, so good try. You can have your own views but when you act on them that is another story altogether. So, what was that about the religion of peace, AKA, Islam?
Since we're already off topic, I'll add that I'm extremely glad Trump has canned the Paris treaty. It's a carbon tax in other words, a tax on life itself. Funny how the courts are all run by democrats and still nothing is getting done. Sure hope the travel bann will be approved soon. Getting sick of seeing radical Islamic terrorists oops I mean the religion of peace stabbing people. I'll also add that sure not all of these attackers are Muslim but they were inspired and trained by the spread of radical ideologies, which, gasp, stem from radical Islam! Imagine that.
I had a better opinion of you, and now think you are the radicalist, people said you are. I gave you chance to prove me wrong, and you go off, like this? Bet your home's always gonna be secure. Glad you're living such good life and times.
Does anyone think Liberalism preaches hate_speak? Kind of makes someone wonder.
Agreed.
Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean I'm a bad person let's not get that wrong. We can agree to disagree, but let us not mistake opinions with liberalist obstruction of justice, defamation and smearing to what are very serious issues and in turn, times we are living in. Every day it seems a terrorist strikes yet we can't even call it what it is or address the real problem of bringing in, willingly, known militant refugees from countries that don't have any working infrastructure and who's only proof of where they came from was given to them by their local mosque.
Also what is wrong with having a secure home? My grandmother has a wireless security system and I've got a deadbolt. I don't even own a gun even though I fully support the second amendment. Of course there are boundaries, in my own opinion. Having one or two guns seems reasonable to me, but having over 300 or more that you call a collection but use all the time isn't a collection, I call that an arsenal. If it was a collection with historical firearms, they would be sealed away in tamper proof boxes or behind glass. That's a collection, something you look at, something you display. I've got a friend who this applies to which is why I bring it up.
Don't even get me started on the Paris accord. It's funny that almost every American I've spoken to thus far thinks Trump backing out of the Accord is self-serving, shortsighted and extremely bad. I'm so, so glad that Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, has basically said that he will stand with the Paris Accords, because while it does mean change and the spending of money, there's something more at stake. It's called existence. Climate change is real. Pollution is real. Give it a couple hundred years, maybe less, and we're going to end up with problems you can't even dream of yet. I've read the science. I've cross-referenced the facts. Trump backing out, acting as if America's being punished for its 33.5% hand in the CO2 emissions of the world or whatnot, is just another sign that someone wants to ignore hard truth in favour of personal agenda.
Pro-tip: America won't be great when its citizens are all dead from environmental catastrophes, sulphur dioxide poisoning, cancer, and god knows what else. Putting America first will cease to mean anything when America's walking away from not only its own welfare but the general welfare of the world. It all screams hypocrisy when America refuses to acknowledge or aid in a solution for the rapid acceleration of a problem it has had a large hand in creating.
I lay this at Trump's feet, not Americans in general. Most of the Americans I know understand that climate change and the environment in general is a far, far bigger issue than any one country or people. It is something we will all have to work together to squash, if indeed we can. This is going to mean sacrifice. It's going to mean changing some of the way things are done. And yes, it's going to spend money. What a pity; there'll be less money for dropping bombs on civilians.
As for the "if you do bad things willingly you're not a Christian" thing? I bet that applies to Muslims too. You ask any Muslim here who will bother to treat with you, Chillin, and I bet they will tell you that they're disgusted with radicalism, the same way a good Christian would be disgusted by someone who slaughtered in the name of God.
As far as your own radical views go, I've already reported you once, and I'm apt to do it again, in the hopes that someone will call this hate-speech what it is and deal with you appropriately.
But I'll close on an interesting note:
Someone did a sort of blind study, an experiment if you will, a year or two ago I believe. This person took passages from the Bible, but made people think he was reading the Quran. Of course, people were outraged, and talking about how barbaric Islam was. I wish I could've been there to see their reactions when they found out that the religion many of them claim to follow was, in fact, the source of those brutal passages.
If you think Christians all have clean hands, you're badly deluded. Most do, just as most Muslims - or members of any other religion, for that matter - do. But no religious group is free of zealots, radicals, extremists, killers and fools. Hell, I'll go a step further. No group, if it's big enough, is free of those things, because I'll be the first to admit that you can find all of those things among agnostics, atheists, deists and everything in between.
lol agreed greg. Like, he says backing out of the treaty will save business,
what business can be saved if the people are dead? Even a sinkhole showed
up at his golf course and he still wants to act like an idiot about it. Sorry if
someone's mentioned all this before, I really didn't read all the posts. I can't
stand what's been going on and it makes me sick to my stomach.
Sorry Shep. While you might not like what he says or believes, he's not directing hate, but is speaking on a general from.
He doesn't attack anyone in public, so his opinions should be expressed just like anyone elses here, and I'm happy to see we can have an open discussion.
No. I disagree, Wayne.
When you misrepresent a religion or group to the detriment of that group, and make blanket statements both about the group and about the people in it, that borders on hate-speech, and in some cases dives right in.
Saying that Muslim terrorists are a problem is not an example of hate-speech. It's simple truth. Terrorists of any stripe, Muslims among them, are a very real issue.
Where I think the line is drawn, though, is in the way the religion is being mocked as the "so-called religion of peace", as one example that jumps right out at me. It's a case where action and stated desire don't mesh. He says he won't judge a Muslim without proof, yet he's in favour of a travel ban against Muslims. Basically, when confronted, he tries to claim he'll judge people individually, but his vitriol against Islam and his feelings on the travel ban make it very clear that this is just a matter of empty words. From all accounts, JustChillin is one of those people for whom Muslims are guilty until proven innocent (note that bit where he basically said that Muslims need to stand up in outcry against terrorism and extremism?).
So no. In general I agree. Freedom of speech and all that. But for me at least, this is wandering into hate-speech. It's insulting, it's offensive, it slanders not only a religion but the good people within it, and it's woefully ignorant and high-handed to boot.
You'll note that while I disagree very strongly with the republican rhetoric, I'd never challenge that except in debate itself. JustChillin can hold whatever political opinions he likes without fear that I'd report him. I find them objectionable and disgusting, but I'm allowed to do that without believing I have the right to censor his freedom to hold those viewpoints.
It's when you start making larger blanket statements about religions and groups of people in general, much to their detriment, that I have issues.
First it was global cooling, then it was global warming, and because the phony science has been demonstrated to not support its own weight, it is now just climate change. Of course I believe in climate change, we've got 4 damn seasons. The entire joke of the liberal climate change agenda isn't even about the earth itself, it's a nice initiative to tax us more and more and more, while other countries like China can keep on spewin shit into the air but yet we can't have clean burning coal plants? Get a grip my friend, quit readin' phony UN IPCC garb. The earth's climate, as most educated people know, is largely controled by the sun and is on average 20 to 30% dimmer. Here's also something else you don't want to hear which was made mention of in that last article. In high air traffic areas the dimming is increased more so by, wait for it, also known as geo engineering. As aircraft fly, toxic Barium salts and other compounds create contrails which persist longer than normal exhaust trails. As a matter of fact, creating a problem that doesn’t even exist and then exploiting it while pretending that you are solving it by creating even more problems have become a policy of today’s corporate America. Spraying toxic sulfur into the upper atmosphere in the name of global warming caused by the same chemicals is one of the exploitations.
Now, you breathe the air outside, and you don't filter your water and buy processed foods and think Al Gore is right on the money.
Okay, let's break a few things down here.
1. The oceans
Look at graphs, and you'll see a gradual but fairly steady trend of climate change. Oceans are teeming with algae, and are host to millions of forms of life. Much of this life exists under very specific light, temperature and current conditions. Disrupt any of those things too much, and biospheres will be hugely affected. If there is a large enough die-off, the ocean will actually begin emitting toxic compounds (note how it's full of salt?). Given that the oceans make up 70% or more of the world's surface, this will quite naturally result in a change to the air we breathe. It will become slowly more corrosive and will actually grow poisonous to most life as we know it.
But wait. I'm just getting started.
2. The permafrost
Let's go back to that trend of climate change. In the areas closer to the poles, there's something in the ground called permafrost. It's essentially a constantly frozen or near-frozen layer of crud consisting of dead things, soil, and millions upon millions of bacteria. The permafrost doesn't do a whole lot, and will only really become a problem if it starts to heat up. If it does that, all the stuff in the permafrost layer gets to break down far more rapidly. This will pollute soil, and will gradually permeate upward into the air. It's not going to happen overnight by any means, but is another gradual process which will tweak both the atmosphere and the soil, the environment in general, in which most living things thrive.
3. Rising water levels
I hope you don't live near the coast, or don't plan to. Water levels are very slowly rising, and while that might not be happening forever, or happening very quickly, it means that, because of the poler caps very gradually shrinking and spreading off into the sea, that aforementioned ocean problem I talked about is going to get bigger. And when the oceans start to claim low-lying human settlements, imagine all the chemicals that will get into the water when factories, hospitals, cemeteries and all manner of toxons are submerged and then broken down in salt water.
4. emissions
It has, as I understand it, been proven that emissions of things like CO2 and methane are contributing to a very gradual greenhouse effect, which is very, very slowly cooking us. This is one of the things contributing to a temperature spike. America has a huge hand in these emissions, but is by no means the only culprit. Most well-developed countries pollute the air far, far more than they need to, whether it's via factories, controlled burns like forest fires, chemicals, heavy air traffic, car traffic...you name it. Let's not forget that some of these gases themselves are toxic. In small doses we tolerate them, but have you ever wondered why asthma and other breathing difficulties appear to be sharply on the rise, or why some tourists now wear masks when they visit certain places? If that's not telling enough, I don't know what is.
So put that ugly picture together. Tell me we don't have a problem.
The thing is, there may be more factors at play than I'm talking about. We may not be able to completely stop certain processes, if they're outside our control. But we can sure as hell take responsibility for those things we -are capable of changing. If we want to live on this world for a whole lot longer, than quite frankly we, as a species, have to treat it better. That means America too, despite what Trump would have you believe. You don't get a free pass just because your president decides he's going to be selfish. That's lunacy of a rather frightening cast.
I'll finish on just one more thing.
Imagine the millions of factors that had to be absolutely perfect for life to be viable on this planet. Now, we're fucking with them. Throw even one of those factors far enough out of its necessary range, and we may force a mass extinction. Is that eventuality worth the supposed greatness of your nation or the abdication from responsibility your president whines for?
Reading the responses here and the concept of reporting other users for their opinions brought me to this.
I don’t think the world, or people relies the wide affect a leader of the United states has on events due to his statements and actions on others.
If he/she says they want to build a wall to keep a specific people out, that generates hate, even though the people that now are hating weren’t before.
On the Muslims, we’ve got people attacking them based on a leader’s opinion, not their own.
If a leader of an industrial nation, the UK, United States, Germany, you name it, makes these wide statements, and then publicizes them on social media, it is a chain reaction, and it is felt worldwide, not only in his. Or her country.
For that reason, I believe leaders need to be extremely careful what they say, no matter what the believe.
Leaders need to follow the advice of speech writers, and advisors before they speak, written, or orally.
So, the statements made here are just chain reaction.
You can’t blame a man for his opinions when the leader he’s following thinks the same?
Look at Germany, and hitter and other leaders in history.
We tore down the Berlin wall, but now we’ve got a leader saying he wants to build this same device of hate, strife, and pain?
I'm sorry Shep, but I guess you'll need to stop reading what you don't wish to hear. He's not alone.
Just some thoughts.
Of course he's not alone. But he's still wrong, and he's still a bigot, and I'm still going to stand up and make noise to stifle such idiocy when I see it.
As for it not being his fault just because the leader he follows is spouting it and helping to support it? That's bullshit too. Everyone has the ability to think and decide for themselves what they will feel and how they will act. I'm sorry, but you can't pass off blame that way. Trump is at fault for what he says and does. Just Chillin is at fault for what he says and does. For that matter, so am I. So is everyone.
I agree with Shepherd wolfe. If Chilin's speech is not hate speech, it is mighty close.
Chilin's references to science are also BS. There is no reputable science or scientists any more who deny Climate Change and that human activity is agrivating it. To continue to deny is just plain ignorant. And, there is no such thing as clean coal. That is an oxie moron. That was a PR campaign started by the coal companies to make their product seem more acceptible. Fact is, Clean Coal is only marginally cleaner. Coal is dead as a fuel source just as whale oil before it. Chilin needs to get with the times.
The US and China are the two worst polluters, so they need to take a major hand in correcting the problem. Trump is a dangerous fascist fool, and will be forced out of office before the end of his first term, thank God.
Oh, just so the rest of you don't feel obligated to check out links that may or may not give you pop-ups like they did for me:
The first link, which is as far as I've gotten so far, is about some panel which met in December and apparently totally debunked everything. They did it with science, guys. The sort of science that wasn't linked to or explained, but instead referred to as "complex mathematics that people wouldn't understand". The sort of science which refutes what thousands of scientists have supported, but only with words, not with demonstrable facts. I could publish an article citing the fact that my independent, unsourced, unpublished study proves definitely that Pepsi is, in fact, red and teal in colour, and that this colour, unperceived by the vast majority of people, is the source of its distinct flavour. It would hold the same weight as the first article JustChillin posted.
This is why we verify our sources, folks. If you post a link, and that link makes a claim, don't expect it to be taken seriously without the ability to conduct further reading. See, the great part about the grand majority of scientists who accept what their senses and data and analysis are telling them is that you can go digging, and you can actually find the science if you want to. You can wade through thousands of pages of data and findings if that's your fancy. Can the same be said of the article Chillin cites? I'm afraid not. That's suspect in and of itself.
And if that's the best you've got, particularly given your mentions of supposedly clean coal and your continued focus on who instead of what is being talked about, your bias is clear, and your unwillingness to hear facts is too huge to be denied by a rational mind.
Even Americans I know who support Trump, generally speaking, do not deny that climate change is a terrible thing, and do not deny that humanity is playing a larger and larger role in that process.
Ah. I didn't mean it isn't his fault. I miss said that.
What I mean, is he's not at fault here for what he believes, meaning not against any rules.
His leader is publicly saying these things too, so how can say the community leaders take him down for it unless he attacks people directly?
Harrasses them, and such?
His opinions are just that. Like them or hate them, he hasn't called any racist names and such.
Sure, he has his own mind, but I guess he's stating it frankly.
I'm called a bigot yet, who have I actually targeted and used slanderous terms against? That's right, no one! And I will not do so as that is uncalled for. However, I didn't see much in the way of addressing the actual sources I posted. I made no mention of Trump, he did. So there's that. Also, no mention of how geo engineering is screwing with our atmosphere, and that's the real issue we're dealing with.
Global warming is a joke. A made up problem used for political purposes to impose taxes and keep poverty alive. That's about it. But it sure sounds good, doesn't it? And yes, there are clean burning coal power plants. I didn't say coal itself was clean, I said there were clean plants. And yes, there are. I had a good belly laugh at the comparison of the U.S. to China as being the world's leading polluters. The U.S. doesn't hold a candle to China, but conveniently he let that one slide right off the table. You want to save the earth, let's start with China. What, am I now racist against the Chinese? Hahaha!
Get a grip and quit believing everything the govt or the UN spouts. Talk about conspiracy theories.
By the way, just in case someone wants to pick apart my last post regarding poverty, let me add for clarification, just in case anyone needs this explanation, global warming/cooling/climate change/its god's fault for the seasons is not the only thing keeping poverty alive. You've got things like the inner cities, oh wait, sorry, that's what Trump said should I put it another way? How about black on black crime? Oh and black lives matter? Well blm is a domestic terrorist group for one, and you should see the reaction of whites and blacks when signs are held up asking if all lives matter or black lives matter. And of course, anyone with a drop of common sense would agree all lives matter. Not so much with the inner city folks, it's the white man's fault. How about these no whites aloud areas in universities like in Michigan? I guess racism is ok if it comes from the blacks. I guess I'm racist for pointing that little factoid out though. It's ok, I'm used to it.
Dear god. Your rhetoric, if you can even call it that, is bursting at the seams.
For one thing, you've demonstrated yourself a bigot not once but twice regarding Islam in general.
For another thing, can you cite me statistically accurate graphs which suggest that global warming is not occurring? If you can, I'll be happy to read them. Remember, we're talking scientific fact here, not just hearsay from someone with an agenda.
On yet another angle, I'm not a conspiracy-theory sort of person, and I don't believe everything any government tells me. I caution that your advice holds just as true for you as it does for me, however. I find this amusing, in truth. I am a natural skeptic. I question damn near everything. I've done research. I've looked into things rather than just swallowing them whole.
On yet another angle, I never said that the United States was the biggest polluter. I merely said that given its population and given the amount of emissions it's responsible for, it's got a huge hand in this environmental mess and should be fully on board with helping to clean it up. Read: this does not mean that the United States should be solely or primarily responsible, but it does mean that they should take a strong initiative toward trying to fix a problem they're heavily involved in.
I also don't know why you're carrying on about terrorism when I have suggested that if you look in any group, you will find extremist elements of that group which, given the right incentive, might commit that particular crime. This goes for whites, Muslims, blacks, Christians...you name it, really.
I could go on for paragraphs, but those points knock most of your objections into cocked hats, so to speak. Seriously, dude, if you're going to object, at least do it with facts that can be verified, and at least keep my words in context.
Nope, sorry, not a bigot. All the terrorist attacks you have heard about happening recently have been radical muslims. That's all there is to it. You're trying to get around the argument by splitting hairs because Joe Shmoe beat someone up somewhere in your town. I'm talking big picture world stage, primarily what is happening in Europe. Because, if you don't have strong boarders, that shit will be on your doorstep, and I certainly don't want it on mine. We got plenty of hajib wearing muslims here, and the reality is, sure there are good ones, but you have no clue who is who because of lacks security. This lacks security is called a false flag because while you as the force aren't causing these attacks yourself, but what you are doing is allowing it to happen fully conscious, or unconscious of the end result.
But let me ask you something. I know you said building a wall is racist, so I'm assuming you live in a very well off neighborhood where you feel ok keeping your door unlocked, right? I mean, the country shouldn't have a boarder or a physical symbol which resembles a boarder, so you leave your front door unlocked too, right? Oh but wait that's different. Well just like your home, how is thinking of your country any different. Quit spewing anti fa crap. If you give up either privacy or security for the other you deserve neither. Screaming racist all day long and by the way Islam isn't a race just so you know, it won't get you anywhere. Once again so I'm Cristal clear, I don't hate muslims, I am against, A, our government bringing in military aged men unvetted from war torn countries that have 0 infrastructure, and B, pigs that carry out these kinds of attacks, cut women's genitals off and throw gays off buildings. That's true trash right there, and it ain't my fault they run around yelling allah akbar. Fuck a bunch of Gihadi trash.
Chilin just go away. All you spout is hatred and false, yes I said false facts. It is not even worth refuting you because you don't give a fuck about truth or facts, just what you can hate. Every post you post on this or other forums are angry rants. Just go away.
He reminds me of this guy I knew. I won't repeat what the person says, because, it is hate-speak.
However, he also blames Muslems, for everything. Said person, depends on others, and blames the others, when things do not get done.
What irritates me, is Chillin' is free to speak against Muslems. Is that right? I sure ain't Muslem, but a Muslem convert to Christianity wasn't as hard on Muslems, in her book.
I'm pointing out that this whole line of: "Blame one religion," is hate-speak. Call a spade a spade. I dislike one religion, being persecuted. It's not right.
No, I just force issues on the table that no one dare talk about in fear of being called a bigot or racist. False facts, haha, okies, if you want I guess.
If you want to bring them here then perhaps we should implement a re-education program to teach them how to live in a free society. I realize most aren't terrorists, but we obviously don't want to bring anyone in who would have us practice sharia law; it's incompatible with freedom and human rights. I don't want one single person entering this country who believes that it's okay to sentence a woman to death for being raped, not one. Anyone who wants to live in that kind of world is insane.
See, on that point, Voyager, I agree with you. I am not fond of Sharia `law, and while I won't go so far as to suggest that the rest of the world should go to countries where it's practised to stomp out its existence, I agree entirely that it runs counter to equality and, as such, does not belong here. I would imagine that the majority of Muslims coming here know this, mind you.
Fine, but then we'd need to kick all the
Americans that believe it out too and would do it if they could get away with it.
The Muslims religion doesn't teach such behavior.
Voyager is correct, but she was being nice about it.
The bottom line is we've seen at least 14 terrorist attacks, both here and in Europe, all carried out by men between the ages of 17 and 52, all had some sort of digital footprint which could be traced, all were known to the police and all were radicalized. But still, SW does not seem to take this serious enough to implement a vetting system or Trump's travel ban, you know, the same one Obama put in place for 6 months or so, you know, because Trump wants to do it so Trump is bad. Then you've got the left which allies with radical ideologies, just see the sharia and anti Sharia protests going on. These leftist zombies walk around, beat people up, they even were carrying AK47's with their fingers on the trigger trying to intimidate people, the same thing as anti fa. So when I criticize the left, there is no way you can debate me that I am wrong, when normal minded conservatives would never be doing this sort of protest or demonstrate this type of behavior, it just wouldn't happen. Do I even need to talk about what just happened this morning? A luny leftist unloaded over 50 rounds on republican congressmen doing baseball practice. And you've got CNN then coming out with a clip of this supposed friend of the shooter saying, well he wasn't bad he was just tired of the politics. Yeah, as if that was any excuse to do what he did. This isn't a Trump issue, this is a radical left, mentally ill attempt to take down our country because they hate any reasonable set of social rules or logic that makes people prosperous. That's it. I won't even bring up Madana saying she wants to blow up the white house. Or Kathy Griffin who shows a severed blooddy head of Donald Trump, or the play in New York clearly showing a stabbing of Trump overtly without actually using Trump's name. Or any of the clear calls for Isis to bomb his properties. Or any of the calls for his assassination like Snoop Dogg. But the funny part is that they think they have the moral high ground when the reality is that the very ideologies they promote will destroy them too. And they don't see it, nor do they care. They want to take your guns, but they can carry them around and intimidate people. They have women's right marches, yet they support radical Islam which cuts their genitals off. I mean what else do you need to see to understand this Hippocracy?
I come across harsh sometimes because it just rubs me raw all the garbage on the so called news, or fake news as it were, and it's nothing but lies and demonization. Then I come on here and here people just spouting the same crap with 0 second thought, and honestly I can't stand it. It is utterly ridiculous. You've got Hillary Clinton. Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi who both need to be in a senior home. You've got Tim Kaine who played a role in overthrowing Latin American countries and embraced Marksist ideologies. All Trump is doing is trying to bring jobs back, he's put over 3 trillion back in the stock market, coal mines are opening in PA my home state, and all people want to do is bitch because your lord and savior Obama isn't in office.
Please please please just get a damn grip. I don't hate anyone, any race or any of the normal crap people want to use. I have a disdain for radical people who have no concept of reality and who think they can inflict harm on people for whatever irrational reasons they want to dream up, radical Islam or otherwise.
You are, yet again, missing the point, and misrepresenting your opposition in the bargain. If you can prove anything you're saying about my feelings being linked to people who support terrorism, I urge you to furnish that proof before you continue to misinterpret what I've said.
Let's clarify, just so there's absolutely no doubt:
1. I have no problem with Islam as a religion, or the grand majority of the people who practise it.
2. I do have a problem with the treatment of some women in the Muslim community.
3. I have issues with sharia law, because of how anti-egalitarian it is, among other things.
4. No, I don't want Donald Trump dead, and I don't support people who say they want him dead. I want him out of office before he can ruin the United States. I want his reign of incompetence and petty decision-making stopped before it bites his country in the ass. Just look at how universally negative the world's reaction to the Paris agreement has been. I think there is one country, Poland, who supported him, while all the others, even those who weren't really keen on the deal in the first place, publicly denounced his choice.
5. I don't support extremes. This means the far left, the far right, or any other extremist group. I am not pretending that Hillary Clinton's hands were entirely clean, nor am I pretending that Trump is the only idiot here. I'm simply focused on Trump because right now he's the one that needs to be stopped.
JustChillin, if you reject extremism of all kinds, it would be nice if you showed it more clearly, because right now it seems like you have a serious hate on for Muslim extremists. You try to defend so-called Christian extremists by saying they really aren't Christians, which is a bullshit argument. You soft-pedal the whole problem of systemic racism in the United States because it doesn't support your chosen narrative. It's easier for you to believe that banning Muslims will solve the problem than it is to face the facts. Facts such as, for instance, the sharp rise of anti-Muslim crime since Trump was elected, just to name one troubling trend.
Now, after doing much, much more research on the Paris agreement, I'm a bit less worried. Trump might be trying to pull the United States out of things, but the country is legally bound to report what it's doing till at least November of 2020, and it looks like a fair slice of the American population, appalled by the president's choice, is actively working to essentially include America in the Paris Agreement in spite of him. Good for them! After all, Trump's withdrawal is essentially symbolic. The fact that he didn't realize this, the fact that he thinks he can actually put America first in a global crisis situation, is eroding whatever credibility the man might once have had. And when the day comes that he leaves office, I will be an extremely happy man. Never mind that I'm not American. Never mind that I'm not identifying strongly with Clinton or anyone else. First it's fairly little things like the lunch laws. Then it's the executive order to reverse Obama's environmental issues, and stuff about cutting funding for such "inconsequential" things as birth control. Then it's denying what written records have proven about the slowly rising temperature, and the effect it will have. Now it's a public slap in the face of the world at large. The man is a leader on borrowed time.
Well, I'm sorry to hear that.
On second thought I'd like to make a couple of points in response to SW.
You stated, with my responses following:
1. I have no problem with Islam as a religion, or the grand majority of the people who practice it.
I, too, concur with this assessment. This would be the Shiite sector of Islam, if I'm not mistaken. Whom, by the way, do not subscribe to the Gihad terror groups. These peaceful Muslims, I'll also mention are targets as well of Gihad Islam.
2. I do have a problem with the treatment of some women in the Muslim community.
Please define "some women" what puts some over the rest? Replace some with all.
3. I have issues with sharia law, because of how anti-egalitarian it is, among other things.
We should all be against this, so on this point, I think we agree.
To point #4. You state:
Just look at how universally negative the world's reaction to the Paris agreement has been. I think there is one country, Poland, who supported him, while all the others, even those who weren't really keen on the deal in the first place, publicly denounced his choice.
If you kept track of the outlash of tweets who publicly denounced his decision, you will observe many of them were far left wingers. Continuing.
Point 5 is important:
5. I don't support extremes. This means the far left, the far right, or any other extremist group.
But, further down, you state:
JustChillin, if you reject extremism of all kinds, it would be nice if you showed it more clearly, because right now it seems like you have a serious hate on for Muslim extremists.
So, is this double speak? You can publicly denounce radical extremist groups, but defend them at the same time by telling me that I shouldn't speak out against it? I'm not real clear on really what you're getting at here. Since your fifth point is sweeping in nature, and as I'd mostly concur with depending on your preconceived viewpoints are, you should also include, by default, according to your language, radical Islamic terror, which is precisely what you're telling me I'm wrong for doing, even labeling me a hater and others to side with you, calling my denouncement of such violence hate speech. However, this is exactly what the left does.
The climate crap on the other hand is economic warfare and nothing more and I don't believe you'll be changing my opinion on that, so for that I am sorry.
You continue on:
You soft-pedal the whole problem of systemic racism in the United States because it doesn't support your chosen narrative.
So that we are on the same page, please tell me what you are understanding my quote "narrative" might be?
I thought this article was very illustrative of a typical leftist. Enjoy.
Congressional Shooter Recently Wrote, "It's Time To Destroy Trump & Co."
The gunman who opened fire this morning on Republican congressmen and staffers recently declared in a Facebook post that, “It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”
The accused shooter, James T. Hodgkinson, 66, posted a link to a Change.org petition in late-March that included the notation that, “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”
Hodgkinson’s Facebook page includes numerous photos of Senator Bernie Sanders, whom Hodgkinson appears to have strongly supported during the 2016 Democratic presidential primary. In posts last August, Hodgkinson wrote, “I want Bernie to Win the White House” and “Bernie is a Progressive, while Hillary is Republican Lite.”
In a statement, Sanders said that he had been informed that Hodgkinson "apparently volunteered on my presidential campaign," adding that, "I am sickened by this despicable act...Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms."
According to Hodgkinson’s Facebook page, he is a member of numerous left-leaning online groups, including The Road To Hell Is Paved With Republicans; Rachel Maddow For President 2020; Sanders For President 2020; Terminate The Republican Party; and Donald Trump is not my President.
Hodgkinson, a Belleville, Illinois resident, was killed when police returned fire this morning.
According to police reports, Hodgkinson has twice been involved in gun-related matters involving law enforcement.
On March 24, a Belleville man called police to report hearing 50 gunshots near his home. Responding officers came across Hodgkinson "in the pine trees." Hodgkinson--who was carrying an Illinois Firearm Owners Identification Card--was advised by cops “not to discharge his weapon in the area” since there were homes nearby. Hodgkinson, who was not arrested, was carrying a hunting rifle, cops say.
In 2006, during a family dispute, Hodgkinson allegedly pointed a shotgun at a man who told police that Hodgkinson struck him in the head with the weapon’s wooden stock. As the victim fled, Hodgkinson “shot one round,” police reported. However, “It was unknown at the time of this report if the subject fired the round” at the man “or in the air.” Hodgkinson was arrested for domestic battery and aggravated discharge of a weapon. His rap sheet includes other collars for resisting police, drunk driving, and criminal damage to property.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department today distributed two mug shots of Hodgkinson, one taken after his 2006 arrest and a December 31, 1992 booking photo. Details of the earlier collar were not provided by police.
Hodgkinson has worked as a home inspector. According to his firm's Yelp page, Hodgkinson has operated JTH Inspections since 1994.
You just spelled things out very clearly.
Enjoy.
That article is not illustrative of a "typical leftist". It's illustrative of an extreme leftist, someone I, who stands pretty firmly on the left, do not support. As I said before, run Trump out of office. There's no need to kill the man. Most people who are on the left are not nearly so extreme as this. The article clearly speaks of someone with a prior rap sheet, someone with gun-related offenses on his record. Using your own logic, you are saying that typical leftists have similar problems. You are making an extremely offensive statement in so doing, and this, right here, is why people react so strongly to you. Don't kid yourself that you're "telling it like it is" or "confronting the hard issues". You're a little man with little knowledge who likes putting the "other guy" in a box and then making assumptions and judgment calls.
Regarding my own points, the ones you're confused about:
Sharia law
I say "many women" instead of "all women" because, yet again, not all Muslims practise the more extreme versions of Sharia which would necessitate the ill treatment of women. There are, believe it or not, a rather large group of pretty forward-thinking Muslims who, just as the Christians have been forced to do before them, have basically said, "Okay, so this is what we used to do, but it doesn't really work, and it isn't fair, so we have to change it". And so they have. The issues are still very real, and they still need to be confronted and dealt with. You won't hear me supporting Sharia law in its entirety. I simply urge you to remember that just as the Bible condones some pretty heinous stuff and condemns certain behaviours, so does the Quran and other sacred texts. If Christians can get a free pass, as a religion at least, because they've learned to adapt, then why don't the Muslims? Flipped the other way, if you think Muslims need serious watching because they're willing to enact Sharia law and maybe kill people in acts of terrorism, then why don't you feel the same way about all the fucked-up so-called Christians running around? Shouldn't fundamentalist Christianity alarm you just as much, or nearly as much, as fundamentalist Islam? I mean, both religions have serious issues with LGBT rights, women's rights, extreme sanctions for wrongdoing...need I go on.
Your narrative, now...I've hit on this before, but I'll restate it for the purposes of tying this up in a neat little knot.
You're on the right. Okay, fine. But as far as you're concerned, there's you and your group, and then there's everyone else. Just look at the way you dismissed that article you posted as "typical leftist". That's ridiculous. You also seem to dismiss all Muslims as potential terrorists until proven otherwise, while at the same time denouncing any Christian who did such an evil thing as ns non-Christian. Rather than face the facts - this fact, in particular, being that the right has problems as well - you simply want to alienate problem elements, pawn it off on mental illness or something else, and wash your hands of it. That is an egregious form of self-deception if I've ever seen one. It's high time you realized that, while the left is by no means blameless, neither is the right.
I'm Canadian, and somewhat blind to the political spectrum, and even I have to admit I'm disturbed more by Trump's character and the things which have happened while he's been in office than I have been with a western political figure in a long time. I'm not convinced the alternatives to him would be much better, but I just need to hear his disdain for women and the entirety of islam to feel nervous about his existence in a place of power. How such as a man as he truly got to become president is a conspiracy theorist's wet dream. As for the whole travel ban, it's fear mongering. it's hard to deny that there have been a ton of hanous acts committed lately at the hands of people the media say are linked to terrorist groups. I'd love to see such people disappear. But people aren't terrorists because they're a specific religion, they're terrorists because of extremist viewpoints and a disregard for human life. An entire ban on a particular group isn't going to make it all just go away. You don't condemn an entire race, gender or creed without inching yourself closer to the ideals the very extremists you are trying to purge are perpetuating. If you're going to condemn all muslims for the admittedly vocal minority of radicals, you might as well condemn every group in the hopes that their radical elements disappear. Hell, Peta has a few bombs under their belt, why not purge them too. Anyway, Trump tweets like an anxty teenager, and he's got some real backwards ideas and viewpoints (see his views on women and birth control. He has power, and he kind of scares me in a what will be will be sort of way. I have a wife, and a daughter though, and his views hit a bit too close to home. Suddenly The Handmaid's Tale doesn't seem like such a sheer impossibility.
Oh yes, and that article? That man could have been a muslim. A muslim who just happened to have a rap sheet. See, anyone can be a criminal or demonstrate extremist tendancies. They just need the right motivation.
I didn't say, once again, all muslims are bad. I am explaining that the terrorist attacks that have occurred the 14 or so I pointed out have been done by Muslim extremists, that's all I'm saying. As for the ban we need the ban because of A, it targets known troubled countries where we know extremist muslims come from and B, if you don't vet people, you're right, anyone with any radical harmful ideologies could come in, it just so happens we should target those countries we know are prime suspects.
Not everything so called mainstream conservative outlets says is true, in fact many of them are what are called neocons. I don't hate, you wouldn't catch me out there harming people or throwing animal urine and feces on people. That is just plain wrong.
Tweeting is necessary in this day in age because msm is constantly twisting things and saying things that aren't true. Tweeting gets the president's message directly out to people. So what if there is no filter, that is better, in my view.
Generally, what msm leftist media claims the right is doing, they are typically doing that themselves so as to cover up their dirty deeds and blame it on the other side.
Now you say I am on the right. In reality though, even saying this still puts me or anyone else on the right in the fake political system. I look at things from the outside, and I don't agree with everything/one on either side as I said. Even if you are to categorize me in this fashion, conservatives still don't carry on like winy baby liberals do.
I constantly hear the left wing media calling it a Muslim ban, which is what you're claiming it is, it isn't. It is a travel ban from known terror prone countries. You stop terrorist attacks by not bringing in terrorists. I don't know how much more clearer that needs to be. Your theory on christian terrorism just falls apart like a moist cupcake. Yes, the Bible has acts of violence in it, but the Bible is more metaphoric then it is literal so you cannot take it at face value. People study the Bible for years and years and are still learning new things. I'm not a scholar on this matter but I have looked into it deep enough to at least understand this fundamental fact. Even still, Christians are not the ones committing terrorist attacks. I'm not even making claims about the Virginia shooter regarding his faith, I'm just saying, look at what is on the media and the narratives they're pushing, and look at what it causes people to do. I also found it striking he was from Illinois. Just sayin'. You get enough people on media like tv and social media saying they want to kill the president and you better believe that if enough people voice these thoughts, someone is bound to get up and try to do it. It also happens that these people are distraught, pissed off mentally ill leftists. You being on the left, I can understand why this is a hard pill to swallow. It wasn't long after Trump was in office you had what was it, 2 or 3 people try and climb the fence to get on whitehouse property. It is the left that bitches about police doing their job saying they are racist because cnn sensationalizes some random black dude getting shot. When you carry on like that and intimidate people, what you're doing in essence is giving more of a reason to amp up a police state, which we really don't need. Police do a great job and their job is hard and all Trump is doing is trying to create jobs for inner cities for example to drive down crime and give people something productive to do.
No. Do you know why I cry racism? Because racism is still a problem, and it's folks like you who want to turn a blind eye to it.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that racism is real, and still a huge problem in America. I also have no doubt that the majority of cops do a great job and are not racist in any way. Not every black man shot is an act of racism, not by any means, but sometimes it is.
So, okay. You advocate a ban on countries where known terrorists are from. What about all the other countries where known terrorists are from? Should Canada put up a travel ban on the United States because you guys have terrorists among you?
As for the Bible being metaphorical? Someone please help me here, as I don't have the time at the moment to devote to it. There are passages in the Bible which talk about hanging, stoning, brutalizing people who aren't Christian, who are gay, who are guilty of adultery because they are raped. These passages I've seen are pretty damn clear-cut. But let's say just for an instant that you're right, that Christians should take most of the objectionable stuff in the Bible metaphorically to keep their credibility. Why don't you give people who read the Quran the same free pass?
Oh wait, that's right. They're Muslims. The only people who get a free pass are the people you're close to. The Christians who make up a large majority of the right with which you so closely identify. They can't possibly be terrorists, because a white Christian can't possibly be a terrorist. And even if someone claims he is...well, let's scramble for something else to pin it on, because we can't go attacking the underpinnings of the flawed political system, now, can we?
No, no, no. Please just stop. You had me thinking for a moment that you were actually listening, but you aren't. Until you can accept the flaws in your stance, you cannot engage in rational discourse on this subject.
And lest any Christian read this and get offended, please remember that I'm not tarring you with the same brush. I have reservations about extremism of all forms, and that can include Christianity, but I have no problem with most of you, unless you do something I find horribly offensive. Most of you don't, so I'm not finding fault or pointing fingers.
"I love the old days, you know? You know what I hate? There’s a guy totally disruptive, throwing punches. We’re not allowed to punch back anymore … I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks."
-Donald Trump
Sure let's assume most of the acts of violence in the Koran are stated metaphorically. What we're seeing is that it sure isn't playing out that way by radical Wahhabiist Islam so in essence it really doesn't matter. Informing you that there is metaphor in the Bible isn't just covering up for my words, it is to illustrate higher level concepts of life that perhaps some people take advantage of not paying attention to, so we should just, well, roll over and be compassionate and understanding. You, buddy boy, are the one trying to corner me without addressing most of the points I brought up, only when it sounds good to do so if they are low level enough subjects. Of course I didn't expect you to come back and say all cops are bad, am I stupid? And I'm not even sure the incidents that you might label as racist really are racist. After all, when you live in a high tension area with loads of crime, you're going to be on a knifes edge for your own safety, and shit is going to happen. But if crime was low and something like that happened with a trigger happy cop then I'd be pointing fingers probably. I know that it happens and there are certainly sleezy cops out there, but they are not representative of the whole.
If you want my honest take on Trump now several months into it, I think he's being far too soft, especially after hearing his speech today. He's got far too many Obama cling-ons still in the government. He's failing to drain the swamp as he said he would do.
If I'm failing to address each and every point, it's because past a certain point, trolls are gonna troll, and I'm not going to respond to every fallacy and every attack specifically. I'm going to have to trust that most people, as has thus far been demonstrated, perceive bullshit as bullshit. I am arguing with you - or have been, at any rate - on issues I thought you might be able to understand. And for everything you might say about my cherry-picking answers, you're doing the same thing tenfold.
At this point, here's how you look to me, Just Chillin:
If a Muslim takes the Quran literally and commits a terrorist act, you're up in arms. "Hey, man, so much for this so-called religion of peace."
If a Christian takes the Bible literally and commits a terrorist act, you say that he shouldn't have done it because everyone knows the Bible is meant to be taken metaphorically. You are very quick to say "Hey man, not all Christians", in a way you'd never dream of doing with Muslims. This is what I meant by soft-pedalling. You try to make excuses for non-Muslim white terrorists. You try to play devil's advocate for them. by so doing, you vastly misrepresent the state of America, because you make it seem as if these non-Muslim crimes are the exception instead of the rule. Rather than admitting that they're all bad, they all need to be stopped, and saying we should be tougher on all crime, you simply support a ban on certain known Muslim countries, because...well, I don't know. Because you expect that band-aid to fix the gaping wounds in the American political body? Because you think inviting further hatred and vitriol is a good way to make friends with people who have a differing ideology? Because you want America to be its own isolated superpower? Get real. Sseriously. Get real.
One fairly innocuous-looking comment you made, about how Trump tweeing the way he's been doing is a good thing, really comes to light here. He shouldn't need a filter, blah blah blah. That would be fine in a vacuum. I'm in favour of free speech. But America, whether the rest of us want to admit it or not, is a superpower. This means it has not only the ability to influence its neighbours, but a responsibility to do so as fairly, equably and ethically as possible. The stated desire to withdraw from the Paris agreement is just one disgusting example of how this is not happening under Trump, and is an excellent example of how the man has no real concept of the bigger picture. Making America great won't matter if the rest of the world decides to band against you, levy tariffs on your traded goods and generally punish you for the acts of your president. And the rest of the world is damn near united on the environmental issue. The fact that I, a thirty-three-year-old man with no political aspirations, can see this problem, and Trump, the leader of a world superpower, either cannot or will not? That's fucking scary.
Forgot to address just one thing. It seems you have indicated, if I'm not mistaken you do not live in the United States? Perhaps I got that wrong but I could have sworn you alluded to that once or twice.
You are also not politically motivated, ok that's cool with me. You sure are stiff with Trump though, by God.
You are also wrong with my analysis as it relates to different texts of faith and metaphorical stories each text uses to illustrate a bigger message. Its not helping trying to explain this to you but it sounds from your own words that you really have no steaks in the matter so it makes no difference anyway.
I have stakes in the matter in the sense that I, just as anyone else may, can give a damn about things that don't affect me personally. I'm a cisgender heterosexual white Canadian blind male. This doesn't mean I can't care about women, or Hispanics, or blacks, or Muslims, or the LGBT community, or anything else.
Tell me again why my not living in the States matters when the States is such a superpower?
Tell me again why not being part of a minority means I shouldn't have an opinion, or shouldn't voice that opinion should I have one? Because the rattling, crackling noise I'm hearing, metaphorically speaking, is the sound made when a man grasps at straws. Have you nothing left?
If so, that's good, because your rhetoric is dead, your arguments are bogus, and your stubbornness is unbecoming a forum of so-called civilized debate.
You want to be rid of terror? I'll tell you, get rid of the moms and dads, and step-parents, that terrorize their kids. Our government didn't do a thing, when I was being terrorized by a family member. They said nothing, when I was forced to lie, to stop the "Torture." Yes, I said torture, because, I was tortured, till I lied about my dad. I apologized, after talking with a pastor, and you know what Dad said?
"Hun, you were reacting like any POW, because, that's what you were. A prisoner, and nobody did a thing about it."
He also said I was "Brave," for not giving up. What about the terrorized children? That's called terrorism, only by another name.
Let's call a bloody spade, a bloody spade. Some kids supposedly raised by Christian families, are just as much suffering. I ain't blaming the faith. However, just because it says: "I'm a duck," don't make it one.
So before you judge immagrants, judge the parents that leave their kids alone, till they come home, shitfaced, drunk. Or as our British friends say: "Piss drunk."
What about the nice moms and dads we, yes, we on here have complained of, take our money, designated for us as children, and "Paint the town," with it? We got much more in our household of a nation, before, we should even "Consider," harassing immagrants. And, I don't think we should. Anyone who thinks I'm off my rocker, well, it's from being tortured by a parent. Yeah, I get the not being able to run, because, I was there. Anyone ever figure out why I'm sometimes a few cards short of a full deck? Yes, I admit it. And, it was others, that made me as messed up inside, as I am. Not just others, though. There's some problems, I was born with. However, it's necessary to point out, I know what Trump wants to do, because, I was treated like an alien, an it, a unwanted war boody, won with divorce, I was singled out, separated from everyone, judged for my physical condition... Ask me, cause, I'll tell all. So, tell Trump to work on CPS, and APS, bwefore we go after religion, or someone's strong faith!
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
The guy who shot up a Seke temple a few years back was a right wing Christian terrorist. The guy who shot up a black church in Carolina was also a right wing Christian terrorist. Timothy McVey bombed a federal building killing dozens, and he was a right wing Christian terrorist. The guy who shot Gabby Giffords was a right wing terrorist.
What happened yesterday at the Republican baseball practice was horrible. I am personally liberal, but I do not condone such behavior nor deny some on the left can be violent. But don't you dare, you ass hole, claim that people on the right don't also do horrific things and that Christians can be just as hateful, violent, and terrorist as liberals or Muslims. Extremism is extremism no matter what faith or party they identify with.
As far as the Muslim ban, the courts, not just one or two, but all have stated it is clearly not a travel ban, but a muslim ban. I guess all those judges, most of them conservative judges, are just not as smart as you? Jeez, what an ass. Look in the mirror, you are everything you accuse those of us on the left of being. The difference, you cannot admit it.
I love to give people here my own nickname, so.
just- bitchen.
A question.
Why does Hillary Clinton need to be in a senior home?
Next, have you read the Quran? I’d say you’ve not due to the things you claim.
Bill, thank you so much for getting it. Just because someone identifies with a position doesn't mean one embodies every single thing that every single constituant of that position purports to follow. That's just fallacious and shortsighted and hilarious.
Sarah makes some good points as it relates back to parenting, and kind of goes back to the original topic of this thread. it starts with the parents, so you can't put all responsibilities on the government because you can't/don't/won't be a decent human being of a parent.
Next. When the Arizona gov shooting happened, sure, I never said you wouldn't have extremes on either side don't know how you think you extrapolated that. The difference is, the right denounced that behavior. The difference with the GOP attack yesterday was that he went a step too far with his free speech and turned it into hate speech. If you weren't aware he was a very avid Abernie supporter. I'm not going to even get into how much the left demonizes the right and goes 10 steps out of their way to insight violence. You won't get it anyway since that's what you do. And of course you have to be right about everything. I've explained myself as clear as I can many times and I'm sounding like a broken record now because you refuse to listen to anything I say, not that I expected you to. yeah yeah, let the insults come, it's what the left does.
Now hate speech, if I need to explain, is when you actually call for violence against one or many people or a select group of people, which I'm not doing, never have done, and never will do. You like to grasp for straws and tell me that having a boarder and screening people is hate speech for some reason. I never said you couldn't have your own opinions about whatever you want, but if you aren't a citizen it makes no difference anyway.
For the OKC bombing, the CIA and FBI had a hand in that which nullifies any Christian narrative you thought you may have had. They refuse to release any documents regarding that case, which poses many questions.
Ah, back to parenting. I'm here to tell you sometimes no matter how good a parent you are, your kids will go the wrong way. It just happens. As to what we feed our kids at school, that has nothing to do with parenting at all, that is administration, so why can't the food be good?
Trump said as much, in the campaign speech. I see why the judges are suspicious. Some people here in America, use their brains. It's illegal, to be discriminating against someone's religion/faith. Those judges read their copies of the U.S. Constitution.
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
My parents did a fairly good job, and I've done some really bad things I'm not proud of. Can't say that I've ever tried to shoot someone or anything like that, but yeah.
Thanks, Justchillin, for amputating this farce of an argument. You want to categorize my behaviour as "what the left does" because you have no better defense. You can't just accept that you might be outmatched on this one, that you might be misinformed. You've had two left-leaning people tell you they condemn what happened yesterday, yet apparently the left condones violence? You've had one person cite you specific examples of how the right, too, sometimes condones violence, yet you try and dismiss it out of hand by suggesting CIA involvement with the OKC bombing, which...somehow magically absolves the right from all accusations or wrongdoing of any kind? I don't get it.
The truth is quite simple. Both sides have their extremists. The left likes to demonize the right to enough of a degree that lying has been involved. The right, on the other hand, likes to stick their fingers in their ears and ignore science, and likes to try and invoke religion where religion has no business going. There are some good right-leaning people out there, just as there are good left-leaning people. There are bad apples in both camps too; that should go without saying.
Anyway, you've amputated the argument because this will be my last post. As far as I'm concerned, your double standards, your hypocrisy and your ignorance are now simply too large and loud to bother contesting anymore. I tried. I failed. Enjoy your self-limiting perspective. I hope that in the months and years to come, you grow capable of understanding the tenuousness of your position.
The OKC bombing had CIA and FBI involvement? Now I know you are just a right wing nut. Conspiracy theories are your bread and butter. Give me a break!
Yes, but here's one fair point he brought up: What's wrong with hating terrorists? It's not like they're human or anything.
I know I sound marginal with my choice of words but trust me, I don't just lap up what I'm told, I look at all angles, and situations, often times, are more complex than what is told to you on the surface.
You want a conspiracy theory, turn on cnn or msnbc, please. That term has no substance anymore. The term fake news blew right up in their face. Try reading a book or 2 on Operation Mockingbird. It's my bread and butter, hahaha, boy I'm real offended. I'm not validating your comment, I'm laughing because you have no concept of what the CIA or NSA does and how things like technology are bugged. But that's right, it's just a conspiracy theory and the NSA doesn't spy on anything and valt 7 was all made up. Your brain short circuits at any subject like jfk or 911 or sandyhook or any of the staged news casts cnn has been caught doing.
The left gets hostile when they are faced with the truth, you condemn me for pointing out the lefts issues, and then you do the very thing I am explaining the left does but because you're on the left it's ok?
Whatever man, whatever. Say what you want I don't really give a shit.
Terrorists are trash and it's not my fault they happen to be Islamists. It isn't my fault the Islamists are the ones we are constantly dropping bombs on. Your struggles of silent screams are cute, but not taken seriously. They are unoriginal parrots of msm.
You should watch a new documentary coming out called the Red Pill. God you sound like the women on the View. The cries for Trump to be impeached, again, are cute, but hold no water. He's doing a lot of things he said he was going to do, and there are things I wish he could do better with. But he is far better than communist Obama.
Don't quit your day job. It sounds like you need the money more than I.
Just Chillin' it's the liberal Christians who say the Bible is to be taken metaphorically. The fundamentalist evangelicals calls for a literal reading, saying the text is inerrant, meaning it's word for word correct. Modern Christian reconstructionism as a movement has arisen out of this set of beliefs. People like the Family Research Council and the Christian Coalition.
I'm old enough to remember the claims of the 1980s, and so are you.
I have no problem with hating terrorists Voyager. I do have a problem with hating a whole group because a small group of them are terrorists. I do have a problem with the claim that liberals advocate violence while also claiming that conservatives do not.
Those sources you cite Chilin are beyond ridiculous. If you really believe everyone, and everything is against you, how do you function. Don't you think that if liberals really gave a damn about little minded people like you we'd have already done something about you? You have no standing. Calling Obama a communist is just plain ignorant of facts. Both the facts of what communism actually is, and the facts about what his beliefs and efforts were working towards.
Oh, and BTW, whether you think it a scam or not, Trump is going down, and I, for one, will cheer when he is removed from office.
Why don't you do a little homework on Obama's real father, Frank Marshall Davis. Never mind, I'll do it for you.
Frank Marshall Davis (1905-1987) was a Communist Party USA (CPUSA) propagandist in Chicago and Hawaii, as well as a writer and poet. The FBI had Davis under investigation or surveillance for 19 years, compiling a 600-page FBI file. He was on the FBI's 'Security Index A', meaning he would be arrested in the event of national emergency.
In 1930's Chicago, CPUSA recruited journalists to help spread Soviet influence in American public opinion. Frank Marshall Davis was one of them. A graduate of Kansas State Journalism School, Frank Marshall Davis joined the Communist Party and began writing for The Chicago Star. He was a colleague of journalist Vernon Jarrett, father-in-law of Obama confidant Valerie Jarrett. Davis also taught at Chicago's Abraham Lincoln School, a Communist run training school run by CPUSA. Davis authored three major volumes of poetry, and later an autobiographical sex novel under a pseudonym.
In 1948, the Kremlin ordered CPUSA to facilitate a US withdrawal from the Hawaii as US naval forces were considered an obstacle to Soviet expansion in Asia. CPUSA assigned Frank Marshall Davis to Honolulu where he began writing for the Communist Newspaper, the Honolulu Record in 1948. In his columns, Davis flawlessly mirrored official Soviet propaganda - he blamed American capitalism for starting World War II, denounced the Marshall Plan, preached wealth redistribution, nationalization of industry and government healthcare, while bashing Wall Street. Davis also helped organize the Communist controlled ILWU (union) in a failed effort to take over the Hawaiian government in 1949. The Hawaii NAACP chapter complained to its national office, "Comrade Frank Marshall Davis suddenly appeared on the scene to propagandize the membership with the purpose of converting it into a front for the Stalinist line." In 1956, Davis was subpoenaed by the Senate Subcommittee on Un-American Activities and pleaded the fifth. Dreams from My Real Father makes the case that on August 4, 1961, Frank Marshall Davis became the father of the future 44th President of the United States and indoctrinated him with a Marxist ideology during his formative years.
while I'm merely saying the same thing as voyager the usual suspects still continue pushing the idea I hate an entire group of people simply because I've stated I'm not a liberal and I am for boarders and vetting.
I agree. Even folks that tell their life story, don't try to say: "This religion did thus." They avoid the appearance, if they can.
One I read, was the family's particular center of worship, that caused the problem, and the author pointed out they had no desire to put down the whole religion.
So, if someone who became well-known for leaving their faith can be that respectful, it sure seems a great example, to me, a Christian, who doesn't agree with the whole religion, to not put them all down/insult/whatever. Some from that same religion have been kind. However, I disagree with their rules, so I don't go there. And, they don't worship as I do, is another reason. We call this the "Land Of The Free," and our President wishes to remove freedom of what we believe in. As a Christian, I don't hold with that idea. Freedom is for all, whether they worship Christ, or Budah, or Mohamid. Sorry, if I spelled his name wrong.
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
Even if for sake of argument, I accept his father was all you say, that does not mean Barack was like minded. The McCarthy Senate committee cited was totally discredited and the fact his father was called means nothing. Barack was raised by his grandmother mostly on his mother's side and was far away from his father most of the time. So your reasoning is at the least suspect.
Further more, I judge a man by his actions and words, not by what his parents did or didn't do. His words as represented in both his books, which I have read, and his speeches are moderate liberal. His actions while in office were also moderate liberal. Many on the far left felt he didn't go far enough. He is in no way a Communist. You again are merely showing your ignorance. Read his books, then tell me he is a communist. He is pretty damn main stream, and if you were not so very hard extreme right, you would see that. But from where you stand, Ragan would be left leaning.
Um, seems like if all that's true, it was his dad, not him.
He was raised mainly by his mother, did you read that in your research too?
My dad was a Mason. Am I a Mason? My dad was around all my lifetoo.
No, I am not.
Pasco, I get what you're saying about Trump, and being glad when he's out. But as the father of a bisexual daughter, Pense scares me.
What sort of executive orders, or odipherous execution of his own will, would he enact against the LGBT people? He has a record of supporting Gay Conversion therapy.
Leo, I agree Pense is no picnic either. But, they are who we idiot Americans elected. Trump is no friend of the LGBTQ community either, and I sincerely think he is far more dangerous to us. Pense would be, on balance, preferable. He may not survive the current investigations either though. Then you'd get Paul Ryan. Again, not a good choice, but Trump is the clear and present danger. We must deal with one dangerous President at a time. His incompetence and erradic behavior is a danger to us on several fronts.
Well, that's a fair point.
And the sad part is people still support these nutjobs.
I guess, apparently, nothing Trump does should truly shock us anymore, but it probably does still shock some people out there anyway.

And that's all I've got to paste about that.
Not surprising any more, but just as disgusting.
I wonder how long it will be allowed to continue. It gets worse as the months fold.
I want to know why this country is allowing this insanity to continue. Trump will get us bombed, just like before. Maybe some of you don't remember 9-11-01, but I do. I still get shivers, because I didn't believe it could happen to us, and now... Here's a president, mouthing off to North Korea!
I don't need to fear the "Black Helecopters." I'm scared of being Nuked like a cat in a microwave. Not a pleasant thought.
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
Should Trump really be restrained and tied down like a crazy mental patient or a rabid animal?
https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-never-restrained-must-155122883.html
It was the proverbial terd sandwich versus giant douche as far as candadates. I'm absolutely no supporter of trump (and since I'm Canadian, I don't have to be), but I'm sure Hillary would have come with her own bushal of bollucks to make the world scratch its head. Can't win for losing. America will go to war while your fierce leader just sits on the sidelines, trumpetting, touching random "pussies" and taking names. God (or something else) bless the USA in this spiteful happy time.
While I don't think Hillary was a great candidate either, I think it bears mentioning that she was probably considerably better than Trump. If absolutely nothing else, she wouldn't be standing for white male empowerment and white supremacy the way Trump is doing. Hate-crimes and the like wouldn't be so sharply on the rise, and women's rights, as well as the rights of homosexuals and transgender individuals, wouldn't be on the cutting-room floor the way they appear to be at the moment. Yes, she'd have come with her own problems, there's no doubt of that, but most of them wouldn't be involving human rights, or a lack thereof. People would, by and large, be being treated a whole lot more like equals.
I'm saying this as a gentle caution that equating Trump and Clinton as dead even is extremely shortsighted and intellectually dishonest.
Well, Hillary may not have moved us forward much, but she knows how to behave?
She's socially able, and other leaders wouldn't be embarrassed or really not wishing to meet with her.
When you have leaders of other places trying to do what they can to not have to deal with the US leader, that should tell the voters who voted for him they simply didn't know any better, nor does he.
Hillary isn't a war munger either. I've got the bigger stick, so I'm going to apply it to you losers.
Laughing.
As someone who isn't interested in politics - especially American politics all that much, even I have to admit I'm greatly unsettled by trump, and how he is pretty much universally loathed. When a couple people don't like you, it might be them. When the majority of people you hear about don't, then it might just be you. If something bad happens and he ends up somehow becoming the American hero, I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Not that I expect that. More likely he'll just bring out the termites from the American woodwork and get a whole lot more people abroad mad at him. Sadly we Canadians with our underwhelming military might need to care about such things.
He's just use to being what I call a rich bitch.
People like that are not leader quality.
Sure, he got rich buy doing things, but look at all the breaks, luck, and loopholes he jumped through.
How many time was he bankrupt?
Plus if you look at it, vice, in somes opinion, is his main money maker.
I am like you, and I don't normally get involved, but this is different.
The American system made a mistake. Its time to correct that.
I'm neither Republican nor Democrat. But if I were a Democrat leader right now, I'd be doing my damnedest to woo the very voters Trump did. With actual jobs programs, restoration of what a lot of people have lost.
We know that terrorism (supremacy being only one kind) comes from economically unstable conditions. Liberals for years have acknowledged this about other groups, and have even asked we sympathize.
I don't think there's any excuse at all for a single republican winning in 2018's Congressional elections.
I know we all got it wrong this past election, hell for most of the Election night I certainly thought Trump couldn't make it into the White house. It seems he definitely drunk-stumbled his way in, and it's because a lot of people have been disenfranchised.
As for the actual white supremacists, or even people defencding Trump's sexual assault comments, I believe there's no convincing them.
Of course, my vote would be for the major parties to fracture and let's get some new parties in the system like the Greens and such. The problem we now have is the two parties control election laws, which makes the system a rigged game.
For the record, I'm personally rather sorry I ever entertained the idea of Trump as President, though I had my mind changed before the election. Not because of ideologues, but because of what I saw.
I think of Trump as the PCP president. When I was younger, someone we knew had some PCP, some of us were on the fence about trying it. He took some, we watched the show ... and got the hell out when he bashed in a windshield with his bare hands.
With Trump, for me, it was a similar thing. On the fence about it while so many were die-hards one way or the other. Disenfranchised, not necessarily with Democrats in particular, but the system in general. I remember late 2015, when some of us were complaining that we'd have to choose between a Clinton and a Bush. Who cares which one? Had the race been Jeff Bush against Bernie Sanders, or let's say Jill Stein ran for the Democrats, Bush would have had to tuck his tail between his legs, pout and go home. For many, interest in Trump was all about being done with the establishment, at least that was the perception.
For me, it was several things, but the assault tapes really did him in. There's no way coming back from something like that, at least I thought.
When America sneezes, the rest of the world catches cold.
I heard this a few weeks back, and I think it fits.
This is sort of what I bring up when I'm told by some American or other to stay in Canada, or to shut the fuck up about stuff that doesn't concern me.
America's huge, and brash, and loud, and wants its fingers in everything, as a country.
It's also my next-door neighbour. I'm less than an hour from the border.
So no, I don't think I'll just butt out. lol
Maybe I'm a bit laggardly on this thread, but I don't know who is saying people
outside the U.S. can't comment on our politics. But I agree with Greg. Sure,
anyone can comment on any other country's politics.
The U.S. became a world leader by default after World War II, but nothing lasts
forever. Financially, the world basically belongs to the Chinese, especially should
they choose to collect on it. And that isn't me casting aspersions on the
Chinese, it's just a fact that the U.S. owes them a ton of money.
But let's not pretend the U.S. was like the Roman Empire and bullied our way
into authority, it was merely by default.
This might be something people may like to check out.

I think of America as the archetypical big jock in a horror movie. Big, loud, willing to put their finger in anyone with a pulse. But when a crisis really starts, they usually grow up a little for a while and come through ... unless they get offed of course. America's time will come. All great empires fall eventually. All we can hope for is that it won't take the rest of us with it when it does, and that something better might replace it.
I'm going to sound unpatriotic, treasonous to some, probably.
But do any of you know how Weed and feed works?
It actually causes the weeds to grow so fast they can't develop roots. Then they die in the hot sun.
Think of any past empire you know of. They took many hundreds of years to gradually become an empire.
The U.S. is a very young country, founded in 1776. Younger still, it really didn't become an empire until it did so by default after World War II, meaning America was all that was left to lead.
I'm not being insulting to my country, but I do think someday if historians know about Weed and Feed as a fertilizer / weedkiller, they may call the U.S. "The Weed And Feed Empire".
I think we forget how young we are as a country.
Oh no. Say it ain't so. Is president Trump truly a textbook racest? Can it be true?
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-textbook-racist-us-president-duke-university-professor-insidious-symbolic-a7984541.html
Hardly news to anyone who is not themselves racists.
Is Trump a fucking moron? Some certainly seem to think so.

England never went anyplace, nor Canada, so why America?
It will reamin.
We, as all leading countries just have to go through changes.
This time the system cause a mistake. We are even holding our mistake to ground, and not allow him to do to bad.
He's sort of even slowed down and I think he fears being kicked out of office if he didn't.
He's not leader material, just a lucky, and opertunist person that got rich due to that and loopholes.
Just because I'm feeling like being a bit Obvious and sarcastic:
Anyone thing he'll get re-elected? LOL
Anyway, the average empire lasts, in its peak, 200 years. We are as old, if not older than Babelon.
What I'm saying is that even Rome fell. We're no different, except we don't for the facts we don't have kings, and our country isn't directly mentioned, in the Bible.
LOL
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
And, we don't have professional fights to the death. LOL
My JFW now says Dickhead instead of Donald.
What republicans, and yes democrats too, don't really realize is that many who voted for tRump did so as a vote against the establishment.
Had this been a Sanders vs. Bush campaign, Sanders would have won, and by a great many of the same people.
I know the narrative, but the dominant narrative is false.
The next election belongs to the party who realizes this. My hope is for a third party such as the Greens or something.
I thought when Trump ran, it was a big huge joke. Wonder what folks who voted for Reagan thought? Probably the same thing. I never approved of Trumps hate-speak. I'd say that to him now. I also am going to pray for him. If his methods don't change, it'll be in the same manner of a text I got a few weeks back. I need to refind it, because I can't remember if't Psalms 109:8, or 108:9. I'll look that up.
If he'd been a real guy for change, I'd have supported him. But, I can't support someone who wants to remove a single religion from this country. We have the right to believe in whatever god we want to. I don't believe what Muslems tell us, but they are part of this nation, too. Not all of them are terrorists. On that not, every religion/faith has had its maniacs that go bonkers, thinking because God said this or that is wrong, that death should come to those who practice this or that. Well the God I trust and believe in didn't give me an assignment to judge. He told me not to judge, so I can't be judged the way I judge others. Yes, it's a paraphrase. I don't remember word for word. But, that's what my New Testament says. It's up to Him. Not me. Besides, I don't have time to judge anyone. I'm dealing with keeping myself safe, and other things take second place.
Right. I voiced my views for now. I hope you know I don't even judge Trump. I just don't like his actions. LOL
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah

It seems due to the way he got elected many things were over looked.
He simply had no experience, but I believe his supporters just wanting something different, and he was allowed to even run.
We also had the issue with the election process that got him elected.
Now he's in, he'll have to make a major mistake to get impeached.
He was working on that, but maybe his advisors warned him, so he's slack up.
He's starting in, again, Wayne. I don't think he gives a thin dime, what his advisors tell him.
Eric, last election was the weirdest thing I ever saw. I don't know what happened.

So not only does Trump live in and create his own reality, but he even creates reality for other places. Someone see if they can find Nambia on a map of Africa.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/09/21/nambia-donald-trump-praises-healthcare-country-doesnt-exist/
Apparently the nonexistent country Nambia is the world's top exporter of the nonexistent product covfefe. Hum wonder if that's supposed to be coffee or coffeeffee maybe.
Okay, gotta say this.
Satire is funny, and mistakes are mistakes. Namibia, maybe? There was/is? a country in Africa called Namibia. There's also a country called Zambia. Getting them confused is a silly mistake, but a relatively honest one. Not one that a president of a large country really ought to be making, mind you, but still.
He's expected to know though.
He's suppose to check his facts before he speaks.
We've got Wishington, and Washington too.
Now what if the prime minister mixed them up?
Is there really a Wishington? Or, is that a joke. Speaking of England, Princess Kate's got her 3rd bun in the oven, and His Highness, Prince William, is getting all kinds of gifts. My caregiver saw it in a magazine, when I failed my hearing test. I guess that's what you call it. I mean, if they turn up the volume, that's not success, is it? Hahaha!
Blessings In Christ,
Sarah
No Wishington, but there is a Wichita, Kansas. So someone from outside the
U.S. who wanted to make a Trumpesque mistake could say Washita, D.C. and
Wichiton, Kansas.
Lol
I was teasing.
We've got Washington D.C and Washington state.
However...
Laughing.
See my point?
